Safety and well being - A Core Principle

At We R One, the safety, well-being, and dignity of everyone involved — from volunteers and workers to guests and partners — is a non-negotiable foundation of everything we do.

We don’t treat safeguarding as admin. We treat it as culture. That means setting clear expectations, listening without judgment, and putting the right systems in place — not because we have to, but because no one can truly be free without safety, and no one feels equal without care.

We vet people involved in sensitive or community-facing roles and always aim to balance openness with protection. Where appropriate, we request basic DBS checks (UK) or equivalents elsewhere. We’re also developing access to independent reporting pathways, so anyone with a concern can speak confidentially and without fear — whether it’s about misconduct, boundaries, or wellbeing.

Our approach is shaped by real-life examples from co-housing spaces, intentional communities, and ethical volunteer networks. And we're committed to evolving our practices as the community grows.
