Safeguarding and Wellbeing Policy
We R One – Safeguarding and Wellbeing Policy
1. Our Commitment We R One exists to build a community rooted in dignity, equality, and connection. Everyone who interacts with our work – whether as a volunteer, visitor, team member or partner – has the right to feel safe, respected, and heard. We are committed to maintaining an environment free from harm, harassment, discrimination, or exploitation.
2. Who This Policy Covers This policy applies to everyone involved in We R One, including:
Volunteers and workers
Residents, guests, and project participants
Partner organisations and collaborators
Anyone attending We R One events or spaces
3. Expectations of Conduct We expect all members of the community to:
Treat others with respect, regardless of age, gender, race, background, belief, sexuality or body
Act responsibly and avoid behaviour that could harm or intimidate others
Maintain appropriate boundaries, especially in communal or naturist spaces
Speak up if they see something that concerns them
4. Vetting and Roles of Trust We carry out basic vetting, including references and, where appropriate, background checks (such as DBS in the UK), for any roles involving:
Overnight hosting
Leadership of projects or volunteers
We do not tolerate abuse of power or trust in any form.
5. Reporting and Support We offer a confidential reporting route for anyone with a concern:
Reports can be made to a designated safeguarding lead or via an independent contact
We encourage people to report issues as early as possible. Concerns will be taken seriously and handled with discretion
Where needed, we will seek support from external safeguarding professionals
6. Confidentiality and Protection All reports will be treated in confidence, and individuals raising concerns will be supported. We will never tolerate retaliation or silencing of those who speak up.
7. Responding to Incidents When a concern or complaint is raised:
It will be acknowledged within 48 hours
A preliminary review will take place to assess the nature and seriousness
Steps may include mediation, exclusion from activities, or referral to external authorities depending on severity
8. Continuous Review This policy will evolve with the project. We will review our approach annually and welcome input from those within and outside the community.
9. Consequences and Actions. The WE R One leadership retains the right to ask anyone to leave for any safeguarding reason. Authorities will be contacted for any serious infractions and details shared with connected communities around the world.
